Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute - AYRI

The aim of the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute is to disseminate the practice and philosophy of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in its traditional form, as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. The origins of AYRI reside in Lino Miele’s desire to transmit ashtanga yoga in its most pure form After years of study with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and after receiving from him a certificate/license to teach ashtanga internationally, Lino decided in the year 2000 to open the Ashtanga Yoga School in Rome, alongside his most devoted and senior teachers, Rossana Galanzi, Sergio Rossetti, and Maria Paola Stefani. After the death of Sri K. Pattahbhi Jois in 2009, Lino felt even more urgently the need to preserve the teachings received from his Master. In 2010 he thus founded AYRI-Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute located in the school in Rome, maintaining the name chosen by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois for his school in Mysore. Lino Miele is the director of AYRI in Rome. In addition to regularly daily classes, the institute organizes workshops and seminars. It also provides the most devoted students the opportunity to participate in advanced, intensive courses in order to deepen their knowledge of the ashtanga system taught in the traditional method. These students may become participating members of the Institute and its schools.
